File & Design FAQs
What File Format Should I Use For My Design?
We work with PDF, AI or JPEG. For JPEG, resolution should be 300-350 dpi at print size. For PDF or AI files, please make sure to embed fonts or turn them to outlines.
Do I need to include die line?
We recommend giving us your own die line on a separate layer on PDF or AI files or on a separate file in JPEG. Die line should be about 1pt single vector line. If not sure how to create one, leave it to us and we will make one for you.
If using Illustrator or InDesign
File page size should be built to the ordered size and bleed should be added in through the programs bleed settings (Adobe Illustrator & InDesign have these settings). .
Also, if files are created in Illustrator or InDesign, it is always helpful to convert fonts to outlines – prior to saving as PDF/X1a – just in case there are any font issues (just make sure you save-as your document first, just in case you want to make future typography edits later on).
Want a specialty finish (raised print, white ink, UV, etc) but not sure how to prepare your files?
For each especailty printings like White Ink, Raised or Spot UV, save them on a separate layers. White Ink should be saved as a spot color and named ‘White’.
Not sure how to create spot color or save on different layers? We can help! Just make sure to let us know what you’re going for in the “notes” of your order. Or reach out to one of our experts at questions@liftlabels.com.
What Are the Advantages of "Kiss Cut" Stickers?
While there are several advantages, here’s a couple of highlights:
- Kiss cut stickers are only cut through the label or sticker material and liner/backing is left uncut. This makes them easier to peel from the liner.
- Keeping the liner intact (usually a rectangle or square) helps protect your sticker, especially delicate designs with edges that could be bent or damaged otherwise.
- You can print around the labels or stickers! This is a great way to add extra flair and can be very useful for prodcut instructions or messages.
What Size Should I Select When I Order?
Since you can get stickers in ANY shape, the size you order through our website isn’t always your final sticker size. Your design will need to fall within the size you order.
What is Bleed?
In order to properly print graphics that extend to the edges of your design – we need the artwork to include .125″ bleed – extended beyond the edges. If you are working in Adobe Illustrator or InDesign you can create bleed settings directly in the Document Setup. If not sure, we can help.
